Assume for parts a-d that the population is so large that we may treat the sampling as though it were sampling with replacement, even if it is not. We sample people one by one a) Find the probability that when we sample the first five people we get nonsmoker, smoker, nonsmoker, nonsmoker, smoker; in that order. b) Find the probability in the first five people that we get 2 smoker somewhere in the order c) Find the probability that we have to select exactly 5 people to get the first smoker. d) Find the probability that we have to select more than 5 people to get the first smoker. e) Suppose now (and only for this part) the population is small: in fact there are only 3 smoker and 7 nonsmokers in the population. If we select 5 without replacement, what is the probability you get at least 2 smokers? f) If we sample 100 people what is the approximate probability (using normal distribution) that the number of smokers is 33 or greater.
