hai can anyone help me on this question
a)
Case hardening is a process of making the outer surface of a metal component harder while allowing the inside softer.
Processes-
Nitriding
Nitriding involves heat treating to diffuse nitrogen inside the surface of a metal to achieve case hardened surface.
Types of Nitriding -
In this, the workpiece is heated to a particular reactive temperature and exposed to an atmosphere containing nitrogen-rich ammonia gas.

In this, the nitrogen donating medium is nitrogen-containing salt in the liquid phase. Then the heated workpiece is dipped inside the liquid salt medium for a bath.
It is also called ion nitriding or
glow-discharge nitriding. In this the nitrogen donating gas medium
is excited by inducing huge electric fields that ionize the gas
molecules and help in diffusion into metal workpiece.
b.)
Vacuum Deposition
It is a process to deposit layers of a material atom by atom or molecule by molecule onto a target surface. The process operates at very low pressure far below atmospheric pressures. The condensed particles of source material can be generated in various ways like thermal evaporation, sputtering, cathodic arc vaporization, laser ablation.
Applications-

Sputtering
In sputter deposition atoms from a target material ejected by the collision of charged gas particles from sputtering medium and gets deposited to the substrate.
Applications-

Ion Plating
Ion plating uses periodic bombardment of the substrate and deposit film by atomic-scale energetic particles. The energetic particles used for bombardment are ions of inert gas.
Applications-

[d] The relationship between the mass of gas adsorbed per unit area of surface, g, and the gas pressure, p, can be written (assuming constant temperature) as: +>p g п п where s and n are constant. Prelab questions 1,2, and 3 and Part E questions Also, write a flowchart of the experiments process in each part. EXPERIMENT 3 DETERMINATION OF Δo The d orbitals of a metal ion in an octahedral ligand or crystal field are split into a higher energyset (eg) and a lower energy set (t2g) as shown in the following energy level diagram. 11 The energy difference between the upper and lower energy levels is Δo, the octahedral crystal field splitting. The degree...

6.1 Introduction—The design of a successful hot box appa- ratus is influenced by many factors. Before beginning the design of an apparatus meeting this standard, the designer shall review the discussion on the limitations and accuracy, Section 13, discussions of the energy flows in a hot box, Annex A2, the metering box wall loss flow, Annex A3, and flanking loss, Annex...
summarizr the followung info and write them in your own words and break them into different key points. 6.5 Metering Chamber: 6.5.1 The minimum size of the metering box is governed by the metering area required to obtain a representative test area for the specimen (see 7.2) and for maintenance of reasonable test accuracy. For example, for specimens incorporating air spaces or stud spaces, the metering area shall span an integral number of spaces (see 5.5). The depth of...
10. Write a one-page summary of the attached paper? INTRODUCTION Many problems can develop in activated sludge operation that adversely affect effluent quality with origins in the engineering, hydraulic and microbiological components of the process. The real "heart" of the activated sludge system is the development and maintenance of a mixed microbial culture (activated sludge) that treats wastewater and which can be managed. One definition of a wastewater treatment plant operator is a "bug farmer", one who controls the aeration...
