Answer #1

Answer 1.

Male fetal pig has a following differences as compared to female.

1) Lacks urogenital pailla,

2) Urogenital tracts opens near umbilical cord in the male while that of female opens near terminal opening of the digestive tract,

3) Swelling is found proximal to terminal opening of the digestive tract of and develop into scrotal sac (it may be visible or may not be during the development)

Answer 2.

Thyroid Gland: It is present in the ventral to neck. It is butterfly shaped gland and helps in secreting thyroid hormones.

Pancreas: The pacreas ( is present in the abdominal region and dorsal to the spleen. It lies in the folds formed by the duodenum.

Thymus:Thymus is present anterior in the thoracic cavity, left to the midline and anterior to the heart.

Adrenal Gland: Adrenal gland is present near the aorta in the fetal pig.

Answer 3.

The spleen is the brownish adn flattened structure. It is located posterior to the stomach and ventral to the pancreas.

Answer 4.

Epiglottis: It is a cartilage tissue and acts as a gate superior to the entry before larynx.

Glottis: It is an attached structure to the epiglottis.

Larynx: Nasal cavity of the pig opens in the pharynx that further opens into larynx.

Trachea: Larynx further opens into the trachea or windpipe.

Primary bronchus: The tube like structure coming out of the Trachea bifurcates to make right and left broncus that enter to the right and left lung.

Diaphragm: The septum present inbetween the thoracic part and the abdominal part is known as a Diaphragm. It separates respiratory organs and core digestive organs.

Lungs: These are present in the thoracic body cavity of the fetal pig and are required for the respiration (exchange of the gas).

Answer 5:

Kidney: These are present in the abdominal cavity and present laterally from the spinal cord. The kidneys are laterall to the spinal cord passing from the mid sagital region dorsally.

Ureter: There are two ureters coming out of the each kidneys. It helps collection of the urine form the kidneys. These are present on the dorsal side and proximal to the spinal cord as compared to kidneys.

Urinary bladder: The two ureters opens in the urinary bladder. It is present posterior to the ureter.

Umbilical artery and vein : Umbilicla cord is present on the ventral midline poriton. The dissection of which shows artery on the left and vein on the right lateral part of the umbilical cord.

Urethra: The urin collecte and stored in the urinary bladder is excreted through urethra.

Urogenital tract (female): It is present near the terminal opening of the digestive tract and specially ventral to the anus. It is on the midsagittal portion of the ventral side of the body.

Answer 6:

Oral cavity: Oral cavity is the beginining of the digestive system. It comprises of mouth, hard palate, soft palate. Tongue paillae are the taste buds developed in the oral cavity.

Hard palate: The hard palate is on the superior to the soft palate. It creates a roof of the oral cavity.

Soft palate: The soft palate forms base in the oral cavity.

Tongue papillae: Tongue papillae are the taste buds that develop in to the adult tongue. They are present superior to the soft palate.

Oropharynx: Oropharynx is the tract from where nasal cavity and oral cavity meet each other.

nasopharynx: Nasal cavity opens into nasopharynx and provides a space for inhaled air to pass to the lungs.

esophagus: The oropharynx opens into the esohagus. It also helps in regulated movement of the ingested food.

Stomach: It is a sac like structure where first protein digestion starts. It is present on the left side of the body posterior to the esophagus.

Small intestine: It is diveded into three parts a) Duodenum b) Jejunum c) ilium. It is present in the abdominal cavity of the body and is required for the digestion of the food coming from the stomach.

Colon:It is the tube like structure of the digestive system where the process of digestion and absorption occur and is present in the abdominal cavity posterior to the diaphragm.

Rectum:Rectum

terminal opening of the digestive tract : terminal opening of the digestive tract is the posterior and last opening part of the digestive tract. It is present on the ventral midline.

Liver: Liver is present on the right side of the midsagital line in the abdominal cavity.

Gallbladder: The gall bladder is present posterior to the liver.

Answer 7.

Ovary: Present dorsolaterally in a pair. It produces oocyte.

Uterine horns: Uterus is shrinked in the pig as compared to human. Two uterine horns fuses to form uterus and forms birth canal rather than a residence for the developing embryo. Two uterine horns joins at the midline to form uterus that is required to house the developing fetus.

Male:

testes: These are present in a pair in the scrotal sac present ventrally.

epididymis: The anatomical strucuture present back of the kidney and attached to it is epididymis. It stores spermatozoa and help them to mature there.

vas deferens: Tube that allows passage of mature sperm from the epididymis.

seminal vesicles: It is present as a separate store house of the sperm that are ready for the ejeculation.

Prostate gland: This gland secretes fluid that nourishes the sperm. It opens where seminal vesicle and vas deferens opens together.
