I need help analyzing the C'NMR and H'NMR for this unknown compound and an explanation.
Hello there, nice question, kindly find the data interpretation below
1. IR spectra: it indicates the nature of functional groups. The peaks at 3059 cm- is characteristic of sp2 hybrid C-H strech. Combing that with peaks at 1580, 1485 and 1385 (characteristic of benzne ring). Confirms the presence of aromatic ring in the molecule. The two peaks at 2850, 2750 are characteristic of a CHO group. The strong signal at 1660 hints that CHO might be conjugated. Thus the compound is an aromatic aldehyde.
2. NMR data: The data is not of good quality. The 1HNMR indicates only presence of aromatic proton in the region 7-8 ppm indicating a disubstituted benzene ring. This is only possible for ortho-/para- substitutions. Also signal at 10ppm (190 ppm in 13CNMR)the presence of CHO group. Thus, your compound may be the following

Any follow up questions. Kindly post in comment section. This is only how much can be obtained from the data.
Cheers

Worksheet 4: Identification of Unknown Organic Compounds Reading: For a quick video about the "Rule of 13" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2YNE7w_GQIO Introduction One of the most important tasks that chemists are faced with is the separation and identification of compounds from mixtures. Gratifyingly, chemists have multiple tools in the quest to identify unknown organic compounds. Infrared spectroscopy is useful for determining functional groups that may exist in a molecule. NMR spectroscopy tells information about the...
