In body image research conducted by Wolf, Nichols, and Decelle, how do lesbian women discuss common media images referring only to bodies?
A research was conducted in San Francisco,CA by the Professor Michelle Wolf of broadcast and electonic communication art department, David Decelle from Cheskin research and Sandy Nicholas of Wisconsin University on 12th Ocotober1998 which depicts a study on women , mass media and development of their body image.Wolf was the principal investigator and he is suppored Decelle and Nicholas as an assistants of the study for the age group of women 18-33 years . The main puposes of study are as follows: 1)To find out the influence or impact of mass mediaon the body development image. 2)Different Conceptions about their bod of lesbians and theie opinins in media.. 3)Thouhts, felling and perceptions about the weight related matters. The impact of media on the above three groups of women are as follows: Lesbian: they are very much fond of developng healthy body and wholesome personality and they have less preferences for developing self images.Though they are fond of maintaing a sexual relationship with others who are like them. They perceives world by their own views and approaches and are not portraying interest to develop their body parts. Bisexual:They are fond of decribing their body as a whole. They also speaks about the structure of body whether thin or fat.. They can cmpare between inner and outer frame of references and they have desire to look good and best in media. Heterosexual:They have a preference about how others speaks about themseleves rather than their self image concept. They want to be look good and such kinds of comments must be received by them from others. They always want to be good look infront of media in compare to what other says about them. So if we refer different groups of images we have seen that the impact are different for different levels of women. Lesbians are often attracted to media attentionto portray the characteristics on love, feminism, parenting, sexual relationships etc. Many the time they represent themselves as masculine by dressing or behaving in masculine way. sssssso gender identity plays important role in body image. Again sexual orientation effects the body image. They are fond of feeling good and health and oppose to physical apperance.
