1. Columbian Exchange: What was the Columbian Exchange? What traveled across the Atlantic to Europe, and what moved to the Americas? How did this effect Europe? North America?

Answer: The Colombian exchange refers to the exchanges of humans, plants, animals, culture, technology and ideas that took place between old world, West Africa and Americas during the 15^th and 16^th centuries after the voyage by Christopher Columbus. This also involved exchange of some communicable diseases. Europe and the old world were introduced to commodities from the new world like potato, sugar, tobacco and Chocolate. While the new world or Americas got plants, horses and diseases from the old world.   

This changed the habits and behaviors of the European people. They started to consume products like tobacco and chocolate. Their eating and living habits underwent a drastic change. Similarly the Americas were impacted by the plants, animals and diseases. The sugar plantations started to spread in America. Similarly the horses helped the Americans to transform their hunting practices. The Americans also started to suffer from communicable diseases like Syphilis.
