Solution:

We have to find area under the standard normal curve between z = -1.80 and z = -0.23

that is find P( -1.80 < Z < -0.23) =...............?

P( -1.80 < Z < -0.23) =P( Z < -0.23) - P( Z < -1.80)

Look in z table for z = -0.2 and 0.03 as well as for  z = -1.8 and 0.00  and find corresponding area.

P( Z< -0.23) = 0.4090

and

P( Z< -1.80) = 0.0359

thus

P( -1.80 < Z < -0.23) =P( Z < -0.23) - P( Z < -1.80)

P( -1.80 < Z < -0.23) = 0.4090 - 0.0359

P( -1.80 < Z < -0.23) = 0.3731
