The four research types with definitions and examples are as follows: These are all in my own words only.

Research Type 1: Correlational Research

Definition:

Correlational research is a Psychological Research between two random variables or bivariate data.

Example:

A proper example of Correlational research will be a correlation between a person's childhood experiences and personality. The better the childhood experiences, the pleasant the personality.

Research Type 2: Descriptive Research

Definition:

Descriptive Research is a research in Pyschology that describes the characteristics of a population or a phenomenon under study.

Example: An example of a descriptive research in Pychology is studying a particular population of an age group say teenagers. The descriptive study reveals that the brains of teenagers are still growing, hence they lack maturity and are impulsive in behavior and they take high risks without evaluating the consequences.

Research Type 3: Experimental Psychology

Definition:

Experimental Psychology is form of Psychology that uses experimental methods, that is, procedures carried out to validate,support or refute a hypothesis.

Example: Example of an experimental psychology is to study the motivation level of human beings and evaluate their achievements. It is majorly found that highly motivated persons do better in their fields of interest or work than poorly motivated individuals.

Research Type 4: Interview Research

Definition:

Interview Research is a research method is pyschology where a subject or participant is asked questions and his/her answers are analyzed and evaluated.

Example: An example of interview psychology is to give a set of questions to the participant like for eg., the problems faced by persons suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Their answers are recorded and analyzed and then treatment or solution is provided.
