Find a painting (or paintings) that illustrates the use of monocular/pictorial depth cues. If it is a well-known painting, identify it by name and artist. Otherwise, scan a picture of it or provide a link in your assignment. Point out all the different cues the artist used. The more examples you can find within your painting, the better you will do.
One of the finest and famous paintings illustrating Monocular Cues is that of Paris On A Rainy Day by the French artist Gustave Caillebotte . I have attached an image of the painting for better understanding ( Image Source : WikiCommons). If you look closely at the picture there has been skillful use of the concept of Monocular Cues of depth perception for the painting to be more realistic.
1. The Man and the woman in the front are relatively of larger sizes than other people in the painting giving us an idea the distances or the depth of different people. Here the Monocular Cue of RELATIVE SIZE has been used.
2.The texture of the Tiles or Stones or whatever material it is becomes fine and smooth as we go towards the building. Here Monocular Cue of Texture Gradient has been used by the painter where closer objects are rough and farther objects appear smooth.
3.The painting also shows the buildings seemingly to be converging (see the gap between front of two buildings and the gap between their farther ends). This use of Monocular Cue of LINEAR PERSPECTIVE has been finely illustrated to give us better sense of depth/distance.
4. Similarly to give us the idea about distance of street light the Monocular Cue of INTERPOSITION/OVERLAY/OCCULTATION has been used by painter as the Man in front covers or interposed a small part of the Lamp Post.
5. RELATIVE CLARITY: The objects in front are relatively clearer than those at the back or which are farther.
ELWVATION: Closer the objects to the
horizon , farther they are. This Cue too has been manipulated
beautifully by the painter. See the back end of the building in the
centre of painting.

When reading text, you concentrate on the words rather than the punctuation. Computers; however, focus on punctuation before the actual words. Any mistake in punctuation can confuse the computer. More than half of the errors most people make while learning SQL are due to errors in punctuation. What makes this concept even more difficult is that punctuation has additional meaning in SQL that it does not have in the English language.
