Sports, like any other event, is also ripe with social issues. This is especially interesting for psychologists and sociologists alike to assess social issues through the lens of sports. One such issue being that of gender disparity which is gaining quite a lot of coverage in media nowadays. There is a common consensus on how women's teams in various sporting events aren't given as much due credit or coverage as their male counterparts receive. There is also the debate of gender pay disparity discussed amongst the same.

There are also issues relating to class & race. For instance, certain sorts being rife with class politics, as there are gatekeepers to certain sports. Such as golf being essentialy for upper class and same for tennis, as their equipments come to be priced highly too.
