Lead provided the most effective protection, the counts of radiation per minute was very less when lead was used as the shielding material. Lead is used as a radiation protective material, they are used to reduce the intensity of radiation and protect devices, people,etc from radiation. They can shield effectively X-ray , gamma ray, radiations due to which they find an effective application in nuclear power plants, X-ray machines, protective aprons, etc.

lead can be used as an effective shielding agent because they have a high atomic mass and comparatively low size due to which they have high density, so it allows lead to absorb radiation and scatter them and thereby reducing the intensity of radiation on the protected material.
