Answer #1

Mg(s)is in zero oxidation state because it is in its elementa form.

In AgNO3 Ag is in +1 Oxidation state . Ag can loose only one elctron because its elctronic configuration is(Kr) 4d105S1.Ag have only electron in its outer most shell. NO3 have -1 charge.

In Mg(NO3)2 Mg is in +2 oxidation state. Mg have only two elctron in its velence shell. Electronic configuration is (Ne )3S2.

Ag(s) hve zero oxidation state because it is in its elemental form.
