What can cause a false positive on Tollen's Test? My compound is a ketone, deemed to be 5-methyl-2-hexanone, however a positive result was produced when conducting the Tollen's Test. I know it must have been a false positive since my compound was not an aldehyde, but what could be some reasons that could have caused this?
