Drug A has an ED50
of 5.1 mg and an
LD50 of 49.9 mg, while
Drug B has an ED50
of 3.5 mg and an
LD50 of 36.1 mg. Determine
the therapeutic index (TI) for each drug. Which is safer? Why?
(There is no graph or image for this question)

The therapeutic index (TI)of a drug is the ratio of the lethal dose (LD) to the effective dose (ED). High TI means safer the drug is.
TI = (LD50) / (ED50)
For drug A,
TIA = 49.9 / 5.1 = 9.8
For drug B,
TIB = 36.1 / 3.5 = 10.3
Drug B is more safer. It means in case of B it causes less toxic effect and more therapeutic effect compare to drug A.
9. Drug A has an ED50 of 10 mg and an LD50 of 45 mg, while Drug B has an ED50 of 60 mg and an LD50 of 300 mg. Determine the therapeutic index (TI) for each drug. Which is safer? Why?
2. DRUG Q has an ED50 of 20m/kg in humans and the LD50 is 100mg/kg. DRUG Z has an ED50 of 10mg/kg, and the LD50 is 20mg/kg. Calculate the therapeutic index for both drugs (show all work!). Which drug would be easier for a person to overdose
a.Caffeine has a therapeutic index of approximately 100:1. If the ED50 for caffeine is 12 mg/kg, what is the LD50? b,Heroin has a half-life of approximate 10 minutes. Ronaldo injects 10mg of heroin IV. How much heroin will remain in his system 20 mins after injection? c.Drug A has an ED50 of 10mg/kg and an LD50 of 100 mg/kg what is the therapeutic index of this drug? d d.Drug X has an ED50 of 2 mg/kg and an LD50 of...
Caffeine has a therapeutic index of approximately 100:1. If the ED50 for caffeine is 12 mg/kg, what is the LD50? In a typical dose-response curve graph, what is placed along the vertical, y-axis? Sheila weighs 55 kg (121 pounds). She starts her day off with a large cup of Starbucks coffee (330 mg caffeine). Every day she drinks at least three large cans of Monster energy drink, each containing 160 mg of caffeine. In the evening, she drinks two cups...
A chemist has invented a new drug X. Drug X has an ED50 = 0.400 mg/kg and an LD50 = 7.06 mg/kg. What would be an appropriate dose for a patient weighing 165.1 lbs?
A new drug will be on shelves soon, to help treat high blood pressure. In mice, this drug (DRUG A), has an LD50 of 25 mg/kg. However, DRUG A has some competition! DRUG B is also a new drug that will be released to help treat high blood pressure. When testing was done in the lab, DRUG B had an LD50 of 100 mg/kg in mice. Based on what you have seen in the PowerPoint, and the YouTube videos, draw...

The system above has two distinguishable particles, each can be
in either of two boxes. The system is in thermal equilibrium with a
heat bath at temperature, T. The energy of the particle is zero
when it's in the left box, and it is
when it is in the right box. There is a correlation energy term
that increases the system energy by
if the particles are in the same box.
If the particles are indistinguishable how many microstates will...
