Use this information and the information in Figure 7.7 (page 263) to estimate the bonding atomic radius of rhenium.

rRe is the radius of Rhenium

rMn is the radius of manganese

rT is radius of toxic compound

bond length of Re-T (d1)= rRe + rT ------(1)

Bond length of Mn-T i(d2) = rMn + rT-------(2)

applying [(1) - (2)]

d1 - d2 = (rRe + rT) -(rMn + rT) , Given d1=2.01 A & d2=1.89 A

(2.01-1.89) = rRe - rMn

0.12= rRe - 1.39, Given rMn = 1.39 A

rRe = 1.51 A
