YOUR REQUIRED ANSWERS ARE : A = -0.75, B = 1.25

From the given diagram, it is clearly visible that:

Mean = 40

S.D. = 12

Hence,

For A (i.e. 31)

\frac{X-\mu}{\sigma}=\frac{31-40}{12} =-0.75

For B (i.e. 55)

\frac{X-\mu}{\sigma}=\frac{55-40}{12}=1.25
