According to the state postulate, Two intensive properties are required to completely define all other intensive properties of a state simple compressible system. All the remaining properties are derived from these two properties.

Examples of three sets of intensive proties which can detemine remaining properties are:

1) Pressure, Temperature

2) Pressure, volume

3) Volume, Temperature.
