The average age for students in the class is 21 years.

Mean is used to find the value of the central tendency of the data.

That is the value which represents the whole data on a scale.

Here, 21 as a representative value for all the ages of all students.

This means to say that most of the students have age of 21 years or nearer to it like 20 years, 19 years, 21 years, 22 years, 23 years.

NOTE: This doesn't mean that all students have age of 21 years, infact most of the students have age 21 years or nearer to it.

In this case, 21 comes from:
