Answer #1

The five fundamental elements in the communication system are :

  • Sender and Receiver : Sender is the person with the message to communicate. The sender is also known as the encoder decides on the message to be sent, the most effective way that it can be sent. The Receiver or decoder is responsible for extracting or decoding the meaning from the message. The receiver is also responsible for providing feedback to the sender.
  • Message : A message is an information and it may be communicated in the form of a letter, email or face to face in the form of a speech.
  • Channel : The channel is which is that responsible for the delivery of the chosen message form. The examples can be post office, internet, radio etc.
  • Feedback : This is important as it determines whether or not the decoder grasped the intended meaning and whether communication was successful.
  • Context : communication does not take place in a vaccum. The context of any communication act is the environment surrounding it. This includes, among other things, place, ttime, event and attitude of sender and receiver.
