There is a total of 6 collision domains.

Each port on a router and switch breaks collision domain. Therefore, each port of a router and a switch is a different collision domain. In the above figure, there are a total of 3 routers and 4 switches.

Collision domains:-

  • Collision domain 1: Between a port of Switch0 and Router0
  • Collision domain 2: Between a port of Router0 and Router1
  • Collision domain 3: Between a port of Switch1 and Router1
  • Collision domain 4: Between a port of Switch2 and Router1  
  • Collision domain 5: Between a port of Router1 and Router2
  • Collision domain 6: Between a port of Switch3 and Router2
