Six sigma is a method which incorporates certain techniques to improve the performance of business or operational processes. Six Sigma focuses on defect elimination and keeping the number of defects to a minimum. It helps in reduction in process variation by focusing in the data-driven approach. The key methodologies in six sigma is 1)DMAIC and 2)DMADV
DMAIC Methodology
1) Define- Define the problem or the issue that needs to be addressed.
2)Measure- Measure the problem as much as possible. Data should be collected from processes and established metrics.
3)Analyse- The collected data must be analysed using data analytics technique.
4)Improve - Improve the processes, methods, by using improvement techniques, cause-effect analysis, brainstorming, Quality improvement projects etc.
5)Control- Control the implemented improved processes by monitoring the process and reducing process variations.
DMADV Process- DMADV is used for introducing new processes and is not used for existing processes.
1)Define: Define the requirements of customer.
2)Measure- Measure the customer needs or requirements. The requirements should be converted into engineering or statistical terms.
3)Analyze- Analyze the process that will be required to translate the customer needs into physical processes.
4)Design- Design the processes which will meet the customer requirements.
5)Verify- Verify the designed processes and the design performance of the end product if it meets the customer requirement or not.

For the next question, indicate the most appropriate six-sigma tool. Explain why you selected this tool and indicate what you would expect that tool to reveal. (5 points each) A t-shirt manufacturer is interested in investigating sources of shirt defects. The manufacturer has identified the various types of defects and would like to prioritize improvement projects.

e Hypothesis Tests for Variances and Proportions in Six Sigma Case Study A Six Sigma team at a factory that produces dog biscuits is charged with reducing the amount of variation in the weight of filled boxes of product. To accomplish this, the team is considering replacing the old packing machine with a new one. A sample of ten boxes filled by the old machine displays a variation of 1.70. A similar sample from the new machine yields a variation...
