The four tires on the author's car are inflated to an absolute pressure of 2.6 multiply.gif 105 Pa. If the car has a mass of 2,200 kg, what is the contact area between each tire and the ground?

Answer

pressure P = Force/area

area A = 2200*9.8/2.6*10^5

Area = 0.0829 m^2

area of contact of each tyre is = 0.0829/4

=0.0207 m^2

Answer #3

weight of the car = mg = 2150 x 9.8 = 21070 N

pressure P = F/A = mg/A

A = F/P = 21070/ 2.1 x 105 = 0.100 m2

area of each tyre touching the ground is A/4 = 0.025m2

Answer #5

we know that Pressure (P)= F/A

force F = mg = 2150*9.8 = 21070 N

==> Area A = F/P =21070/(2.1*100000)

==> Area A = .1003 m2

area of each tyre touching the ground is A/4 = 0.025m2
