Answer #1

According to the functionalist view, society is not a mere collection of various parts or components but it is how various components in the society support each other to have stability. The society consists of various parts or components, but each of these components cannot function alone, they all need each other for the society to function. All the parts of a society are interdependent on each other and they help the society function as a whole.

The functionalist perspective says that the society consists of social institutions, and these social institutions have a specific purpose in the society. The social institutions include government, family, education, religion, media etc. An example of this is that the government may provide free healthcare to the citizens, but the citizens have to pay taxes for it. So, this relationship and agreement between the social institutions and the people produces stability and harmony within the society.
