Variable cost involves a cost the changes in total in direct proportion to the total value of output.Per unit variable cost wheres remains constant.Variable cost increase in total with the increase in total output and vice versa.

Variable cost involves a cost that remains the same at different levels of an activity.It changes in total but remains the same on a per unit basis

Fixed cost involves a cost that does not vary in total but changes per unit , it includes normally depreciation on equipment and buildings, property taxes and supervisory salaries whereas direct labor is normally included in variable cost as direct labor changes according to level of hours worked.
