Please help me identify what the quantitative research design is for the following study. There are four main types of Quantitative research: 1. Descriptive 2. Co relational 3. Causal-Comparative/Quasi-Experimental 4. Experimental Research.
Given the significant disability, morbidity and mortality
associated with depression, the promising recent trials of ketamine
highlight a novel intervention. A meta-analysis was conducted to
assess the efficacy of ketamine in comparison with placebo for the
reduction of depressive symptoms in patients who meet criteria for
a major depressive episode.
Method: Two electronic databases were searched in September 2013
for English-language studies that were ran-domized
placebo-controlled trials of ketamine treatment for patients with
major depressive disorder or bipolar depression and utilized a
standardized rating scale. Studies including participants receiving
electroconvulsive ther-apy and adolescent/child participants were
excluded. Five studies were included in the quantitative
meta-analysis. Results: The quantitative meta-analysis showed that
ketamine significantly reduced depressive symptoms. The overall
effect size at day 1 was large and statistically significant with an
overall standardized mean difference of 1.01 (95% confidence
interval 0.69–1.34) (Pb.001), with the effects sustained at 7 days
postinfusion. The heteroge-neity of the studies was low and not
statistically significant, and the funnel plot showed no publication
bias. Conclusions: The large and statistically significant effect of
ketamine on depressive symptoms supports a promising, new and
effective pharmacotherapy with rapid onset, high efficacy, and good
tolerability.
Given study is an example of Descriptive quantitative study, as the researcher is observing and describing the behaviour or intervention of ketamin without influencing it in any way, with the help of meta analysis or previously studied results.
Meta analysis is a statistical technique for summarizing previous quantitative research.
In co relational study relationship is identified, there is one group but two or more variables are compared
In Quasi experimental study cause and effect relationship is identified, with only one variable but 2 or more groups. It is said quasi experimental and not experimental because either randomisation or manipulation or control group is missing
On the other hand in experimental study all three are present
a) Randomisation (samples are randomly selected)
b) Manipulation( some intervention is done)
c) Control group

Previous research has shown that reporting bias has inflated the apparent efficacy of antidepressants. We investigated whether apparent safety was also affected. We included 133 trials, involving 31,296 patients, of second-generation antidepressants for the treatment of major depressive disorder (MDD) or anxiety disorders, obtained from Food and Drug Administration (FDA) reviews. We extracted data on overall discontinuation, discontinuation due to adverse events, and serious adverse events (SAEs). Meta-analysis was used to compare discontinuation rates between FDA reviews and matching journal...
select the correct answer 1) Which statement about systematic reviews is true? a) All systematic reviews of quantitative studies are meta-analyses. b) “Systematic review” is just another name for a literature review. c) All systematic reviews of quantitative studies are metasyntheses. d) Systematic reviews follow similar “rules” as for primary studies. 2) Which is the unit of analysis in a meta-analysis? a) Prior systematic reviews b) A primary qualitative study c) Individual study participants d) A primary quantitative study 3)...
Directions What is a research proposal? The purpose of a research proposal is to identify and formulate questions that arise from nursing practice and to design a research project to study the identified problem. The goal of a research proposal is to present and justify a research idea you have and to present the practical ways in which you think this research should be conducted. Research proposals contain extensive literature reviews and must provide persuasive evidence that there is a...

doi.org/10.1016/j.jmoldx.2019.01.C. Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a functional gastrointestinal (GI) tract disorder affecting up to 20% of the world's popu- lation. IBS symptoms include bloating, altered bowel habits, and abdominal pain, with pain being the most debili- tating. The etiologies of IBS are multifactorial,8 and increasing evidence supports the involvement of gut microbes in IBS onset and symptoms. (HCs),...
please just select the correct answer no explanation needed 1) An RCT could use all of the following designs, except a: a) randomized pretest–posttest design. b) crossover design. c) randomized posttest-only design. d) nonequivalent control group design. 2) A meta-analyst addressed the question of whether mindfulness-based interventions were effective in reducing anxiety in patients with cancer and found high levels of statistical heterogeneity (i.e., significant variation of effects across studies). What should the meta-analyst do? a) Use a random effects...

IMPORTANCE Clinical outcomes for glioblastoma remain poor. Treatment with immune checkpoint blockade has shown benefits in many cancer types. To our knowledge, data from a randomized phase 3 clinical trial evaluating a programmed death-1 (PD-1) inhibitor therapy for glioblastoma have not been reported. OBJECTIVE To determine whether single-agent PD-1 blockade with nivolumab...
