2. Working thesis: Solutions must be developed to increase the use of alternative fuels and decrease reliance on fossil fuels. Wind energy is a necessary alternative to fossil fuels. Wind energy is prohibitively expensive to implement and develop, but once in place will be cheaper for providers and consumers. Fossil fuels have a devastating environmental impact, as well as perpetuating U.S. dependence on foreign oil. Government subsidies provide an incentive to businesses to develop and use wind energy.
