Question 1c: Consider steady–state one dimensional diffusion and convection across a membrane of thickness L. No chemical reactions are occurring. At z=0, C = Φ C0 and at z=L, C = Φ CL, where Φ is the partition coefficient of solute in the membrane. The convection velocity through the membrane is Vz= 1 x10-6 m2/s. Find out concentration in the middle of the membrane (z=L/2). L= 100 μm. Diffusion coefficient in the membrane is 1 x10- 10 m2/s. C0= {C0} μM, CL= 0 μM, Φ = 0.1. Please give you answer in the unit of μM.

    a) What is the diffusion coefficient (DHCi) at 99 °C for a very dilute solution of hydrogen chloride, HC, in water? The ionic diffusion coefficients in water at 25°C are 9.31 X 105 cm2/s for H and 2.03 X 105 cm2/s for Cl. Start this problem by calculating the ionic |diffusion coefficients at 99 °C from those given at 25 °C assuming the viscosity of water at 25 °C and 99 °C is the same. Assume there is no current...

The one-dimensional plane wall, shown in the figure below, is of thickness L =75 mm and thermal conductivity k = 15 W/ mK. The fluid temperatures are T, 200°C and T2 = 100°C, respectively. Using the minimum and maximum typical values of the convection heat! transfer coefficients listed in the table below, determine the minimum and maximum steady-state heat fluxes through the wall for free convection in gases and free convection in liquids. Typical values of the convection heat transfer...
