Answer #1

Energy to be stored = 4.000 x 10^(-9) J

V= 1.50 V C=?

U = 0.5 x C x V^2

C = U/(0.5 x V^2) = 4.000 x 10^(-9) J / (0.5 x 1.5^2 v^2)

= 3.56 x 10^(-9) Farads

    The same voltage is applied between the plates of two different capacitors. When used with capacitor A, this voltage causes the capacitor to store 14 μC of charge and 5.7 x10^-5 J of energy. When used with capacitor B, which has a capacitance of 7.6 μF, this voltage causes the capacitor to store a charge that has a magnitude of qB. Determine qB.

    5. AM: Capacitors are used in many applications where you need to supply a short burst of energy, for example, a mobile defibrillator or a camera's flashlamp. The flash unit in a camera uses a special circuit to “step up” the 3.0 V from the batteries to 300 V, and the 300 V charges a capacitor (otherwise the 3.0 V battery would take very long time to charge the capacitor). The capacitor is then discharged through a flashlamp. The discharge...
