Main difference between PoP3 and IMAP :-

Pop3 allow only downloading mail from mail server to your local computer while IMAP allow user to see all folder on the mail server.

POP3 user can not organize mail in the mailbox of mail server while in IMAP user can organise

Pope user can not create deletebor rename mailboxes on mail server while IMAP user can do these features.

mobile phone mail client prefer to use POP3 over IMAP because it handle a large number of mails and perform better in low internet connection and allow to access mail offline
