Answer #1

Bath ratio = dry fabric (in kilograms)/ volume of bath liquor (in litres)

49322 lb x 0.453592 kg/lb = 22 372 kg

251833 US gal x 3.78541 L/US gal = 953 291 L

Bath ratio = 22 372 kg / 953 291 L = 0.0235 kg fabric/ L bath or 1:42.5

8.34 lb/US gal = 1.00 kg/L (but no need to use this information).

Suppose you need to place 81.0 pounds of a solid material with density 20.00 g/mL onto a satellite, so that it will orbit the Earth. How many cubic inches of space would you need on the satellite for this material? Use these conversion factors: 2.2 lbs = 1 kg, 2.54 cm = 1 inch. Also use the usual metric conversion factors, such as kg to g. Your answer should be in three significant figures, even if Canvas might use more...

    13. A 600 gallon capacity tank initially contains 50 pounds of salt dissolved in 100 gallons of water. Water containing 2 pounds of salt per gallon enters the tank at a rate of 6 gallons per minute (assume the salt is evenly distributed throughout the water in the tank). Water is drained from the tank at a rate 4 gallons per minute. How many pounds (rounded to 1 decimal place) of salt will be in the tank when the tank...

Suppose the car (van, SUV) you drive gets 25 miles/gallon. If you drive 19,000 miles per year how many tons of the green house gas CO2 are you releasing each year? Assume your fuel is octane (C8H18) and the combustion reaction is balanced:                          C8H18 + 12.5 O2  → 8 CO2 + 9 H2O Addition information: Density of octane = 0.700 g/mL   1 gallon = 3785 mL         1 pound = 454 g     1 ton = 2000 lbs
