Various components of policy analysis are as follows:

1. Client oriented advice: This activity is most common strategy in policy analysis as it involves the analysis of conditions in which the client and his problem exists. Most effective strategy will be advised to the client by policy analyst rendering towards achieving the client’s certain goals. For example, the government minister can bring the acceptance of road pricing plans to the users through certain advisory strategies such as the user will be providing more services related to road maintenance and safety. Therefore, it is more relevant to public.
2. Informed Advice: It refers to the public policy decision which includes certain course of action and inaction and generally drafted by client’s powers and values. For examples, the problem of road traffic can be resolved to some extent through involving public opinions. The traffic police official can coordinate with the team of users/clients and can seek advices in the matter which includes organization of local awareness camp, encourage people to obey the traffic rules through soma incentives in the form of gifts etc.
3. Public Policy Decision: It refers to course of actions taken within the public administration to formulate, evaluate, adopt and implement certain policies. Public policy decision may take place at any level of government. For example, the policy judgements related to air or water pollution in the environment. Certain standards of reducing the pollution can be formulated. The pollution emitted by vehicles can be minimised through modifying the fuel compositions as it can be blend with biofuels.
4. Providing Options and a recommendation: It deals with the alternative solutions to the existing problem.
