degrees of freedom = n - 1 = 39 - 1 = 38

t/2,df = t0.025,38 = 2.024

Margin of error = E = t/2,df * (s /n)

= 2.024 * (7 / 39)

Margin of error = E = 2.27

The 95% confidence interval estimate of the population mean is,

  ± E  

= 59  ± 2.27

= ( 56.73, 61.27 )
