against the police.Building on the legacy of the civil rights and LGBT movements, Black Lives Matter has created a new

mechanism for confronting racial inequality. The movement also draws on feminist theories of intersectionality, which call for a

unified response to issues of race, class, gender, sexuality and nationality.
