Answer #1

Answer 1(b) :- Chinese

  • If the three friends use a Borda count to make their decision they go for Chinese meal because each of these restaurants got different votes and the maximum number of votes will decide the best choice
  • Chinese =10, Italian =9, Mexican =7, French =4 votes, therefore the Chinese restaurant got the maximum number of votes =10, hence they will go to Chinese

Answer 2(a) :- Italian

  • In this case, Italian gets 5 votes, whereas Chinese gets 4 votes, since Italian gets more votes than Chinese, therefore they will preffere Italian Restaurant

Answer 3(C) :- The independence of irrelevant Alternatives

  • All of the above decisions which are taken on the basis of number of votings violets the assumptions of the independence of irrelevant alternatives
  • The preferences between Chinese and Italian should not be altered in the presence of French and Mexican Restaurants
