An electromagnetic wave is a type of wave which consist both oscillating electric field as well as magnetic field. Also the direction of magnetic field and electric field are always perpendicular to direction of propagation.Even all three are mutually perpendicular to each other .As mentioned in a given problem magnetic field is in +ve x direction and electric field is in +y direction then perpendicular to both two directions are possible and these are +ve z direction and -ve z direction. So in these two directions of wave may be travelling . Both these directions are along z axis.
