Select the religion Sikhism and imagine yourself as a person for whom this faith is their devotional practice.

Describe one day in this life:

  1. What are your daily rituals, common holidays, and core beliefs?
  2. What ideas might hold symbolic meaning?
  3. What people or movements might be important?

Be as creative as you would like when imagining another perspective, however, please be sure to include details about rituals and core beliefs that connect to readings.

Answer #1

I feel the Sikhs believe in the culture and tradition that binds their religion together in an integrated fashion. It is also a culture where people are deep rooted in belief system and always stand tall for each other no matter what happens with time. They believe i the sikh gurus who sacrificed their lives to maintain peace and serenity in the society. They believe in the Ks of Kesh (uncut hair), Kangha (a wooden comb for the hair), Kara (an iron bracelet), Kachera (100% cotton tieable undergarment (not an elastic one)) and Kirpan (an iron dagger large enough to defend oneself). All Sikhs follow it diligently and never disrespect their norms. They worshio their God in gurudwara where there is no idol worship but a holy book called Guru Granth sahib which is kept there so that they may sek blessings of the god. They believe in faith and meditation on the name of the one creator, divine unity and equality of all humankind, engaging in selfless service, striving for justice for the benefit and prosperity of all and honest conduct and livelihood They are the kindest and the most noble people that we have come across in time. They live their life in honor of their god and always seek their blessings in whatever they do. I have never seen as determined people as them in a long time.
