In this forum you need to post your personal opinion about gamification and Learning. Ideally, your opinion shall be educated with your personal experience in gaming and education that you have gained along your studies (not necessarly on higher education or on-line education, your experience on gamification and Learning can have been gained in college). My personal experience in Gamification was during my MBA in India where professors used varied techniques to make the classes more interactive and enriching than a traditional class room setup. Given below are a few Gamification that I have experienced during the journey

1. Use of Simulations to understand Decision Making process

Here all students were grouped into teams of 4 and each of us are given a company in a different industry. With an initial investment in hand it is up to the teams to decide how much they decide to spend in marketing, increasing capacity, labor hiring to ensure that they achieve maximum sales for their product. Here all teams in an industry were competing against each other to optimize their budget and secure best sales and a position on the leader board. This method of Gamification provided insight on what situations and competition intensity could one experience in outside world and how to make an optimized decision by investing on things that are the needed to sustain in the competition

2. Use of a game of monopoly to understand Financial Statements:

Like above teams were made and each of us were given an initial investment. With each step, we took we were to make a note of the transactions we made be it purchase, spending, fines, interests to bank for mortgage. Finally, after recording transactions for an hour into the game with the obtained values one is expected to prepare a Balance Sheet and Profit and Loss Statement. Learning Finance through a game was an enriching experience and something that helped to understand the concept better
