when the coil surface is parallel to the magnetic field most current is generated.

because, when the coil rotates in uniform magnetic field when its plane is parallel to the magnetic field the rate of change of magnetic flux is maximum. so, induced emf in the coil is maximum. so, current generated in the coil is maximum.

When the coil plane is perpendicular to the magnetic field, the rate of change of magnetic flux through the loop is zero. so, emf induced in the coil is zero. so, current generated in the coil is also zero.
