Provide a definition of “classification hierarchy” and illustrate your definition with an example of how and why a grocery store chain would use it in a data mining process.

classification hierarchy:
=>Hierarchical Classification is a system of grouping things
according to a hierarchy, or levels and orders. A hierarchy can be
seen in positions of authority in which people are ranked in an
unwavering order of authority, with a "boss" at the top and "entry
level" employees at the bottom. The military uses hierarchical
classification to organize its members: generals are at the very
top, followed by colonels, captains, and then sergeants.
=>The categorization of species is another example of
hierarchical classification. At the very top is the kingdom which
is the broadest category, followed by phylum, class, order, family,
genus, and species. For humans, the classification would be
Animalia (kingdom), chordata (phylum), class (mammalia), order
(primates), family (hominidae), genus (homo) and species (sapien).
It goes from a very broad category (all animals) all the way down
to our unique species (sapiens).
Classification hierarchy refers to the concept where the
information is stored in a tree like structure. Each level up the
tree provides a broader information. For example, in a Grocery
store, we can arrange Soaps in hierarchical order as shown
below:

In Data Mining the main objective is to extract useful information from huge amount of data. The Classification Hierarchy plays an important role in Data Mining. By arranging data in hierarchical order makes it faster to retrieve information than when arranged in Linear order. For example, if we want to retrieve what all Children Bathing Soap available in the Store, the query result instead of searching the entire Grocery Store database, goes to only those nodes of the tree that matches its criteria. This result in faster query result.
