given the molar masses of benzophenone and Malonic acid are 182.07 and 104.06 grams per mole respectively can you explain why the melting point of the smaller molecule is so much larger then the heavier molecule?

The molar mass of benzophenone is greater than Malonic acid. It means benzophenone is heavier molecule than Malonic acid but the melting point of Malonic acid is higher than benzophenone.

Malonic acid have higher melting point because it can form strong hydrogen bond (due to carboxylic acid functional group) which increases inter- molecular force of attraction between it's molecule and provide higher melting point.

Whereas benzophenone can not form hydrogen bond between it's molecule. Therefore, it's melting point is low.
