It is given that the molarity of HCl is 1 M with equivalent weight 36.46 g. Thus the amount of HCl (in g) needed to make 500 ml of solution will be calculated as:

w= 18.23 g

Therefore, 18.23 g of HCl is required to form 500 ml of 1 M HCl solution.
