business and computer ethics:
Does the nature of capitalism suggest it is incompatible with a just society? Please write more than 200 words.
No, it is compatible, not just compatible I believe it is one of the most just, socio-economic system which gives every individual the right to choose and right to life itself. As an individual I would not want my efforts to be taken away by the government. In this system, government only plays a secondary role, I am the one who decides what to pursue. Government role is to enable law and enforce them within constraint manner so that nobody takes an advantage of liberty or rights. As a society or an individual, if I do not have the right to choose what to pursue, then I would be doing things which I don't want to. Moreover, in a capitalist society, things are not forced morally. In any other socio-economic structure, I would not be allowed to invest in some business freely however in a capitalist structure I have the freedom to do so. I can have my business setup and pay labour as per my own capabilities. The main thing that would need to be noted is governments involvement in law enablement. To make the society just, laws would need to be made so that there is equality in terms of income. The demand and supply chain within this structure makes the day to day commodities cheaper and more accessible. Competition keeps the price in check for luxurious services or product. Innovation thrives and is incentivised. Although most of the economies in the world are “mixed economy”, a capitalistic economy is something which will keep a nation and with that people in it prosperous and happy.
