Explanation: The two assumptions to perform the independent sample t test are such that;

1) the dependent variable should be measured on interval scale or ratio scale, for example if we are comparing the expected age of male and female, the age should be measured from 0-100 (years).

2) the independent variable should be categorical. A dichotomous variable (categorical) is a variable that takes only two distinct values (for example male/female )
