The Domain Name System (DNS) is an application layer protocol.which is used to map an URL into an IP address.

Suppose you want to visit on www.HomeworkLib.com to do so you have typed www.HomeworkLib.com in the URL and hit the enter button then after the role of DNS come into action and it will map the domain name www.HomeworkLib.com into a unique IP address so that Client/Server can identify each host uniquely on the Internet with a unique user-friendly name.

.The Domain Name System (DNS) is divided into three sections namely:-

1. The generic domain is used to specifying an organization type. for example .com, .edu, .org etc

2. The country domain whose role is to specify the Country domain. for example .uk, .in, .us etc

3. Inverse Domain which role is in address-to-name resolution.for example IP->DN.

.The Domain Name System (DNS) is also responsible for keeping tracing all computers, services, and resources.
