types
1. Excusable compensable
2. Excusable non-compensable
3. Non-Excusable
Answers:
1. Excusable compensable
Excusable compensation delays are caused by the reasons which are not in control of the contractor.
In this type of delay, the contractor is not responsible for any time delay in the completion of the project and is in order to bring the project on time, extra cost ( impact cost) and or if necessary extra time is provided to the project.
Example: unusual whether conditions, strikes etc.
2. Excusable non-compensable
In this type of delay, the contractor along with the another party i.e owner, engineer is equally responsible for the delay caused in the project completion.
It is caused due to the factors which are not in control of the contractor and the owner.
In excusable non compensable delay, no extra money is provided for the project completion rather only extra time is provided for the project completion.
Example: natural disasters, labour disputes etc.
A excusable non compensable delay can be converted to a excusable compensable delay if money is provided to the project for the acceleration of work in order to bring the project back on time.
3. Non-Excusable
In non excusable delay, the contractor is solely responsible for the delay caused.
Here, the contractor is not given any extra time or delay damages for the delay that it has caused.
Examples : unavailability of proper equipments, improper allocation of labour and materials, etc.
