How has globalization and the international environment affected companies that you deal with (your employer, places you shop at, etc.)? What are the positives and negatives of these effects? Are there ethical considerations for companies with regards to globalization? If yes, please explain
Globalisation and international environment provides
opportunities as well as challenges to the companies. Various
positives and negatives effects of globalisation and international
environment of companies that we deal with are -
More use of automated machines at shops. Earlier we use to pay
through cash and shopkeepers use to have book keeping practice.
Nowadays payments can be easily made with electronic money. Also
shopkeepers manage all the accounts on computers and generate
computerised bills only. This has been possible due to the rapid
pace of technology brought by globalisation.
With international environment, businesses has to deal with lot of rules and regulations. Companies have to follow local rules where they are operating as well international rules from where they originates. Like my company sells a product here with certain ingredients in it, with globalisation they started exporting it to Europe as well. But as per their rules you can't use that ingredient in products selling in Europe. So, businesses has to follow various rules and regulations in international environment.
Yes, there are ethical considerations for companies with regards
to globalization. With globalisation, competition at global level
is increasing and every company has to follow ethical guidelines to
remain competitive in other countries as well.
With globalisation demand for skilled employees are increasing and
they are migrating to another countries. But companies should
consider and give some position to local labour class as
well.
With globalisation need for resoucres is also increasing. Companies
should optimally utilise the resources keeping in mind the
availability of resources without providing any further harm to
environment.
