Hello, I need help with Chemistry (AP Edition) (9th Edition) Chapter 3 1MCRQ
Hi,
Hope you are doing well.
QUESTION Chemistry (AP Edition,9th Edition), Chapter 3, 1MCRQ:
When a sample of an unknown element is vaporized and injected into a mass spectrometer, the results shown below are obtained. Use these data to estimate the average atomic mass of this element.
Refer the diagram(mass spectrum) in your textbook.
(A) 117 amu.
(B) between 117 and 118 amu.
(C) between 118 and 119 amu.
(D) between 119 and 120 amu.
SOLUTION:
We know that the height of the peak in a mass spectrum is directly proportional to the proportion of that element's isotope present in nature.
You can see that the 3 peaks first, second and third are at 120 amu, 118 amu and at 116 amu respectively.
Hence the average atomic mass of this element will be between 118 and 119 amu.
So the correct option is OPTION (C) between 118 and 119 amu.

Fundamentals Of Analytical Chemistry 9th Edition - Skoog A 1.51g sample of steel wire was dissolved in excess of dilute sulphuric acid and the solution made up to 250mL in a standard graduated flask. A 25.0mL aliquot of this solution was pipetted into an Erlenmeyer flask and titrated with 25.45mL of 0.0200M KMnO4 for complete oxidation. Calculate the percentage of iron in the steel wire sample? The unbalanced ionic equation is Fe2+ + Mn04- --> Fe3+ + Mn2+
For Physical Chemistry: Greetings, I need urgent help with Physical Chemistry 1. I am using a book called Physical Chemistry by Levine. The author explains through integrals and derivatives. I am a bit lost, because I do not go very well in class, and I can not find videos that can explain me that way. The book has a chapter of The First Law of Thermodynamics and covers topics such as: pressure-volume work, enthalpy, heat capacities, the first law and...
Hello! i need help with a problem in this textbook, Essential MATLAB, 6th edition. Question 8.11: Use the Taylor Series, cosx=1- (x2/2!)+(x4/4!)-(x6/6!)+......... To write a program to compute cosx correct to 4 decimal places )x is in radians). see how many terms are needed to get 4 figure agreement with the MATLAB function cos. Dont make x too large; that could cause rounding errors. I can get an out put correct up to about only 10 radians, but then it...
