Gender is much more complicated than the mainstream binary view in which we are generally socialized in U.S. culture. We can break “gender” into several concepts, including sex, gender identity, and gender expression. Explain the differences between these concepts. How do you engage in gender expression? Gender could be understood through a number of concepts, which include, se-x, gender expression as well as gender identity. These three concepts could be understood as follows:

• gender identity: this is the gender sense that a person would be having. The idea of gender identity might either be correlating with the assigned se-x that a person has or it might differ from the same. In every society, there are gender categories laid forward, which would be serving as the base of the social identity that a person would be later developing.
• Se-x: this is identified through the biological aspect of a person. Through se-xual distinction, a person could either be classified as male or female. These biological differences arise as a result of the genetic composition of a person.
• Gender expression: gender expression could be understood as the behavior of a person, on the basis of their interests, mannerisms, As well as appearances. These would be understood in the context of the gender of a person. These explain various gender roles and would be relying on the various stereotypes that a person would be having

Gender expression would be changing on the basis of the perceived image that a person would be having. This perceived image and the actions of the people, if coinciding to the Perceived image, would be considered typical.

In many societies, men are understood to be masculine and only carrying out actions that would be pertaining to making them look tough. Here, men do not appear to be weak or giving out their emotions in an easy manner, they tend to create this tough image, and hence, in such cases, men do not carry out feminine work. For example, working as nurses or cooking.

Alternatively, there are societies, such as the Middle East, where, women are only supposed to be weak and confined within boundaries such that they should only be carrying out household work. Also, in such cases, women are considered fo be subordinate to their male counterparts and would have to be dependent on them.

When living in such societies, coming out from the perceived image and carrying out actions that would be different is subject to a humongous amount of resistance.
