What should the government's role be in managing America's healthcare? (2-3 paragraphs)

US expenditure on Health care is close to 17 % of GDP which is highest in world. Most of developed European countries spend close to 7 % of their GDP on health care. Although their spending is less than US , but still their health care quality is much superior to US health care system. It makes incumbent on Government to rationalize system to infuse quality. Further, still larger chunk of people, do not have health care facilities.

• Government must regulate the private health insurance providers so that they can not charge excessive premium.
• Pharma companies also must be regulated as their frequently raise price of essential drugs.
• Young generation must be encouraged to subscribe to new schemes of insurance, as they will help to cross subsidize older or ageing population.
• Private hospital must be regulated for excessive charges.
