When watching a documentary, an article you read, or a podcast you listened to, etc. how would you the present the information differently than you might have before studying statistics.
State specific questions or thoughts that arose for you as you read/watched/heard the information presented.
This is a very subjective question. I am trying to answer this question as far as my knowledge and experience suggests.
Before studying Statistics, I used to read articles, listen podcasts etc but never thought that these all things can be expressed as a part of big data sets. The way of looking over a particular thing was different. I am getting straight forward to what are the differences I can state after studying Statistics.
1. The articles, the topics I am reading nowadays, I want to search for what is the importance of that topic. The effect of the articles in my daily life in terms of the real-life problem in a structured way. Previously an article was just an article. Now it is a source of data which can be obtained from a large database.
2. Categorizing similar kind of articles or songs. If you think that how the music players are categorizing the songs according to the album, artists, the year of origination etc. Those are a real-life example of a frequency distribution. Like things should be piled up and categorized.
3. The data can be anything, a number of similar kind of news might be data, a series of events happening in social media - is a data, music consists of tunes for similar moods - can be a data. Everywhere you can find data in several forms.
4. Numerous analysis can be done with these data, data can be a number of vowels used in a particular article, to a number of events in a particular social topic.
In a nutshell, the world is built over a large database. If you can visualize this phenomenon, you are a perfect statistician!
Thanks!!
